14th Annual Arts and Sciences Research and Scholarship Symposium

The symposium takes place between the end of CAS classes, and the beginning of finals week.  The symposium provides a forum for campus-wide presentation, display, and discussion of scholarly works, original writing, art, or projects that have been completed students.  Concurrent sessions will be held throughout the day with presentations made by students from a variety of departments.

PRIZES AWARDED FOR PRESENTATIONS in the following categories:

  1. $100 – best oral presentation
  2. $50 – 1st runner-up for best oral presentation
  3. $100 – best honors thesis presentation
  4. $50 – 1st runner-up for best honors thesis presentation
  5. $100 – best artistic exhibit
  6. $75 – best poster presentation
  7. $50 1st runner-up for best poster presentation

All students are encouraged to participate in the symposium by presenting original research, writing, or other projects.  Oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length.  All presenters should plan to devote 3 minutes of their assigned time for audience questions.  Oral presentations will take place in Decary Hall from 12:30PM to 5:00PM. 

This year we will be teaming up with the College of Health Professions during the poster presentations.  Posters and artwork will be displayed for a 3-hour session from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.  Students who present posters or display artwork must stay at their displays for the entire 3-hour period to answer questions or provide additional information that might be requested by symposium judges and visitors.  Poster presenters not in attendance during this session will not be eligible for prize money.

Co-presentations and panel presentations are entirely acceptable and encouraged.  Light refreshments will be provided.
