Margaret Lee joined Zalicus in 2001 as Team Leader and has held roles of increasing responsibility in the scientific leadership of multifunctional teams of research and development scientists. Dr. Lee is currently responsible for all aspects of research and early development at Zalicus including discovery, nonclinical development, CMC and translational medicine activities. Additionally, Dr. Lee serves as the Program Executive for the Zalicus T-type calcium channel program currently in clinical development in pain indications, and as a member of the Zalicus Senior Management Team.

Prior to joining Zalicus, Dr. Lee worked at the Aventis Pharmaceuticals Cambridge Genomics Center in Cambridge, MA where she designed and implemented cell based assays in yeast and mammalian systems for the discovery and validation of oncology drug targets. Dr. Lee received her BS in Biology in 1988 from Southampton College of Long Island University, her PhD in 1994 from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Tufts University Sackler School and conducted her postdoctoral research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lee is an active volunteer and mentor for the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and has served on the HBA Boston Chapter Board of Directors from 2006-2007 as Director of Women in Science and in executive roles from 2008-2010 including HBA Boston Chapter President.
