UNE's growth noted in DownEast magazine story on Biddeford and Saco
The growth of the 51品茶 was discussed in the magazine story on Biddeford and Saco, Maine, titled "Two Cities, One History." The writer, Joshua F. Moore, notes that "One institution that certainly has not been held back from its potential by MERC or any of the other challenges facing Biddeford-Saco is the 51品茶, which contains Maine鈥檚 only medical school and boasts a student body of some 4,493 people of all ages. 51品茶President Danielle Ripich has managed to leverage the best of Biddeford, Saco, and even the relative proximity of Portland in maximizing the school鈥檚 growth in recent years." President Ripich is quoted saying: 鈥淪mart people 鈥榞et鈥 Maine, and 鈥榞et鈥 the quality of life that they find in the whole Biddeford-Saco region. ... We have people from Boston who come up two or three times a week. They鈥檒l ride up on the Downeaster, so that鈥檚 really allowed us to have access to a pool of faculty that we wouldn鈥檛 have otherwise.鈥
