2011 Senior Etiquette Dinner: Lively lessons, food and thought
Taking a 51品茶tradition to a whole new level, the Class of 2011 held their annual Senior Etiquette Dinner on Sunday, January 23rd. Student participation of over 200 students almost doubled last year鈥檚 attendance. More than 30 faculty and staff joined the students as hosts, and led conversations at their respective tables.
Along with the dinner being the largest in University history, this year鈥檚 dinner was also the first to be inspired by a senior class poet laureate. English major Michael Nataupsky delivered pieces of his work just before dinner. After dinner President Danielle Ripich spoke to the class about civility. Director of Alumni Relations Amy Haile introduced seniors to how to connect with the university after graduation. Special guests of the senior class included former state representative Guy Nadeau, a Bodywise member and friend of the Campus Center and Athletics, and Tammy Lapointe, Sodexo.
Robert Manganello, who once worked at 51品茶as a coordinator of disability services, and attended the first 51品茶Senior Etiquette Dinner over 15 years ago, presented the etiquette instructional to the class prior to dinner. His presentation covered concepts from table manners to conversational do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s.
The Senior Etiquette Dinner is designed to educate students about how to conduct themselves in business-style settings, and engage their social skills in a professional manner. It is sponsored by Student Affairs, coordinated by Career Services, with assistance from the senior class officers and advisor. Sodexo provides the catering and set up of place settings.
