Elizabeth De Wolfe gives presentation to the Baxter Society

Elizabeth De Wolfe, professor and chair of the Department of History, presented an invited lecture to the Baxter Society (Portland) on her current research project on an 1890s political scandal. The Baxter Society is a bibliophilic club named in honor of James Phinney Baxter, 1831-1921, Portland mayor and philanthropist whose gifts provided the first permanent building for the Portland Public Library in 1888.
