The 51品茶 welcomes pre-registration forms for Summer Session 2012 before the course registration period begins on April 2nd.
Summer Sessions
Courses are offered in two sessions during the summer, with Summer Session I running May 21st - July 2nd and Summer Session II from July 5th - August 15th. The Summer Session schedule can be viewed online at the University
Courses will be offered in the following subject areas: Arabic, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Citizenship, Communications, Education, English, Environmental Studies, History, Marine Sciences, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish and Sport Management.
Summer is the perfect time to explore an intriguing subject, try out a new art medium, or get degree requirements out of the way. A sampling of courses offered at 51品茶this summer includes: Spanish for Health Care Professionals (SPA 107), Intro. To Arabic Language & Culture I & II (ARB 110/111), Photo & Video Documentation (COD 300), English Composition (ENG 110), Literature in a Secular Age (ENG 329), Outdoor Environmental Education (ENV 337), US History II: Reconstruction-Present (HIS 223), Statistics for Life Sciences (MAT 150), Philosophy of Psychology (PHI 370), Studying Law: An Introduction (PSC 125), and Social Issues & Problems in the Global World (SOC 265). A variety of online courses in Communications, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology have also been added to the summer mix.
51品茶welcomes students from other universities and colleges who are home for the summer and would like to take a course or two to satisfy degree requirements.
Summer Early College
The university also invites high school students (juniors and seniors in fall 2012) to apply to the summer Early College Programs, which give them the opportunity to earn college credit and experience life on a college campus while they are still in high school.
This summer, students can participate in intensive
- Early College Programs in Coastal Marine Ecology
- Pre-Law/Trial Advocacy
- Creative Writing: Poetry
- Neuroscience.
Each program carries 3 college credits for students who complete its requirements. Field study, lab research, and extracurricular activities are included in the two- or three-week programs, as are exciting field trips. Students can live in a residence hall, or commute.
The application deadline for the Early College Programs is May 1, and merit scholarships are available.
