Amy Keirstead presents seminar at Bishop鈥檚 University
Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, presented a seminar at Bishop鈥檚 University in Lennoxville, Quebec, on November 1, 2013. The talk, titled 鈥淥nce Upon a Photon: Using Photochemistry to tell the Ionic Liquids Story,鈥 provided an overview of Keirstead鈥檚 research activities at 51品茶that investigate the use of ionic liquids for a variety of green chemistry and nanotechnology applications.
The presentation included work carried out by a number of 51品茶student researchers: Robyn Gaudet (Chemistry, 鈥13), Annie Leslie (Neuroscience, 鈥13), Sean Naughton (Biochemistry and Medical Biology, 鈥13), Amber Zablowsky (Medical Biology, 鈥11), Tyler Rioux (Medical Biology, 鈥13), Emily Wells (Chemistry, 鈥14), Lindsey LaPointe (Chemistry-Secondary Education, 鈥15), Peter Caradonna (Biochemistry and Medical Biology, 鈥13) and Regina Scalise (Chemistry, 鈥13).
Other collaborators were Jerome Mullin, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Chemistry of Physics, and Henry Tracy, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern Maine.
Keirstead was visiting Bishop鈥檚 as an alumna, having completed her Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Honours Chemistry in 2000.
She spent time following the seminar discussing UNE鈥檚 vibrant undergraduate research culture with Bishop鈥檚 students and faculty.
