A special surprise for 51Æ·²èpharmacy students on exchange at University of Granada
On Saturday, June 22, 2013, 51Æ·²è College of Pharmacy students and 51Æ·²èProfessor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Karen Houseknecht participated in the University of Granada's graduation ceremony for the college of pharmacy.
The 51Æ·²èstudents had a special surprise, as they were called on stage and "hooded" just like the UGR students. "It was amazing and our students were very touched by how included we have been," said Houseknecht.
The eight College of Pharmacy students on May 20th embarked on UNE’s first academic exchange program with the University of Granada in Spain.
The goal of the program is to enable UNE's doctor of pharmacy students to take some of their elective courses in Granada, and to foster research collaborations between 51Æ·²èand UG.
The exchange is one of the first Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations of the 51Æ·²èstudents’ fourth year. They are began with a two-week Spanish language and Spanish cultural immersion course, followed by a class in European Healthcare Systems they will take alongside UG pharmacy students. The 51Æ·²èstudents are living with host families arranged through UG’s highly regarded Center for Modern Languages. More on this exchange program.
