Lliam Harrison participates in annual meeting of Society for Applied Anthropology

William 鈥淟liam鈥 Harrison, MA, JD, CIP, CIM, director of Research Integrity and adjunct professor for the Graduate Programs in Public Health, was an invited panelist at the 74th meeting of the Society for Applied Anthropology in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The panel鈥榮 theme focused on anthropology and conflict management. Harrison鈥檚 presentation, titled 鈥淵ou Want to Do What?!?!?! Seriously?" addressed the potential for conflict around informed consent, including conflicts between researchers and their subjects and between researchers and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).

At the end of the meeting, Harrison was asked to organize a panel on conflict and research compliance issues by the conference chair and programming chair for the organization鈥檚 75th annual meeting next year, to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
