Med student Benjamin Slocum featured in Journal Tribune, awarded volunteer prize for budget cooking guide

Benjamin Slocum, a third-year student in the 51品茶College of Osteopathic Medicine, was featured in the Journal Tribune on June 18th for his work in creating a cooking guide, "30 Days on $200 - A Cooking Guide for Good Healthy Eating on a Budget."

For his work on the book, Slocum was also presented with the first "City of Biddeford 51品茶 Volunteer of the Year Award" on June 17th.

Last year Slocum worked with the City of Biddeford, local food pantries and soup kitchens to develop the guide for families who are struggling week to week to make ends meet. The book, which is expected to be available this fall, features quick and nutritious recipes, cooking tips, and information on how to plan for grocery shopping. Hannaford supermarkets plans to print and distribute the book.
