Jennifer Gunderman travels to Guyana for HIV and AIDS research

Jennifer Gunderman, M.P.H., assistant lecturer with the School of Community and Population Health, has returned from a 5-day trip to Guyana where she provided technical assistance on enhancing HIV public health surveillance. Gunderman was part of a team lead by the National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD). The focus of the assistance was on improving data for the development of HIV treatment cascades for key populations.

HIV treatment cascades measure the number of people tested for HIV, diagnosed, linked to treatment, adhering to treatment, and showing viral suppression. The work included assessing data and making recommendations at local agencies including organizations serving transgender individuals, providing counseling and testing to sex workers, and linking cases to care.
