Osteopathic Medicine students and faculty present at Experimental Biology Conference in Boston
Osteopathic Medicine students Jonathan Packer and Travis Bouchard, along with Karen Houseknecht, Ph.D., professor in the College of Pharmacy, and Amy Davidoff, Ph.D., professor of Pharmacology, presented a poster at the Experimental Biology Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on March 28 鈥揂pril 1, 2015, titled, 鈥淎typical Antipsychotic Off Label Use: Should We Worry 51品茶 Cardiovascular Complications?鈥
This project lays the foundation to explore clinical complications associated with the use of atypical antipsychotic off-label drugs, particularly in patient populations for which they were not tested, but are distributed.
As lead author, Packer received an American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) travel award, as well as a Peter Morgane Research Fellowship for 2014-2015, funded through COM, Houseknecht and Davidoff.
