The 51Æ·²è recently tested the Double Robot during an interprofessional immersion team exercise with a standardized patient. The Double Robot was brought to campus for a two-week trial through the efforts of the Center for the Enrichment of Teaching and Learning (CETL) in its capacity to explore different pedagogical innovations. The technology was featured in a story on WGME

The Double Robot is a telepresence device that allows remote workers, telecommuters and students to feel more connected by giving them a physical presence in the office or classroom. 51Æ·²ètested the robot in a variety of educational settings. During the interprofessional immersion event, the robot stood in the exam room with team members from other health professions. It was operated by a student from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, allowing him to interact with the standardized patient and team members from a remote location.

51Æ·²èis moving forward with purchasing two of the robots.
