51品茶athletes deliver smiles to Barbara Bush Children鈥檚 Hospital ahead of fundraiser
Members of the 51品茶 men's and women's lacrosse teams visited The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in advance of the 10th Annual Lax-4-Life Fall Invitational. The student athletes spent time with the children and their families, playing games and posing for photos.
鈥淚t was eye opening to see how tough these kids have it,鈥 women鈥檚 lacrosse player Kasey Rubenstein 鈥17 said after visiting the hospital. 鈥淎t the same time, it was inspiring to see how much courage they have. It made me realize how important the fundraiser we do at Lax-for-Life actually is.鈥
"Going to the Barbara Bush Children鈥檚 Hospital had a profound impact on me,鈥 said women鈥檚 lacrosse player Anna Stowell 鈥20. 鈥淏eing able to interact and play with the kids opened my eyes to the importance of realizing what I personally have and what I may take for granted. Not all kids get to grow up participating in sports like I did, so I think it is important for me and my team to help bring the joy that I find in athletics to kids in alternative ways, because all kids deserve to have fun."
This year鈥檚 invitational raised $4,200. Since its inception in 2007, Lax-4-Life has raised more than $25,000 for the world-class children鈥檚 hospital at Maine Medical Center.
