‘Mainebiz’ interviews Dean Jane Carreiro about UNE’s role in addressing shortage of doctors
Jane Carreiro, D.O. '88, dean of the 51Æ·²è College of Osteopathic Medicine and vice president for Health Affairs, was interviewed by Mainebiz for an article about recruiting and retaining physicians in Maine.
Carreiro explained that 51Æ·²èCOM has more alumni practicing in underserved areas in Maine than Tufts, the University of Vermont and Dartmouth College combined. "The health profession needs people in city centers as well as those practicing in rural areas," she said. "In the end, we're all just trying to recruit the best possible people to take care of their neighbors, the people of Maine."
