51品茶and Maine Area Health Education Center Network introduce new Mainers to the College of Pharmacy
In a continuing partnership with the Maine Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network, 51品茶faculty have visited with high school students who are part of the the (NMPHI). The Maine AHEC Network has collaborated with NMPHI to expose high school students who are the children of immigrants and refugees to healthcare careers, helping to increase the diversity of Maine鈥檚 healthcare workforce and generate interest in the field.
During the visit, Rachel Naida, assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, spoke with high school students in Lewiston about college, career opportunities, getting a job and what it is like to be a pharmacist.
鈥淥ne notable individual has already applied to the 51品茶Pre-Professional Pharmacy Program,鈥 said Zoe Hull, M.P.H., program manager for Maine AHEC Network who helped organize the event. 鈥淗e is waiting to hear back on whether he has been accepted, but is hopeful and excited 鈥 and stated that we are definitely his first choice!鈥
鈥淩achel and I were very happy to have visited the students,鈥 she continued. 鈥淲e anticipate that they will be coming to visit 51品茶in the near future.鈥
