The UNE Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies (HWOS) program has been awarded a grant from the York District Public Health Council to develop and promote York County's Substance Misuse Community Resource Guide. Janica Barrows, B.S. '16 (Health, Wellness and Occupational Studies) has been hired as the project coordinator for the grant, and HWOS Assistant Clinical Professor Bethany Fortier, M.P.H., will serve as the project manager.

The six-month grant will involve listing and analyzing existing community resources and resource gaps, conducting a survey to track public perception of community resources, designing and launching the electronic resource guide, and providing guidance to the York District Public Health Council for continued support and advancement of the guide.

Senior HWOS students from the program's Theories of Health Education and Substance Misuse & Prevention courses will be engaged in the survey design, implementation and development of the resource guide.
