Ripich Commons living green wall featured on NEWS CENTER Maine
The living green wall inside the new, state-of-the-art, eco-friendly Ripich Commons building was recently featured on NEWS CENTER Maine.
The wall is a prominent part of the 60,340-square-foot, three-level, multipurpose facility on the Biddeford Campus.
Living green walls bring the outdoors inside, by providing a touch of nature to structures made of concrete and steel. The plants are also great for air quality inside those buildings.
The wall at the Ripich Commons is one of the largest in Maine. It is the first one installed at a college or university by the Salisbury, Massachusetts-based Plantwerks.
The wall is made up of 960 plants, with five different varieties of tropical shrubs.
51品茶sophomore Evan Carrell told NEWS CENTER Maine she enjoys studying near the wall.
"It is definitely a beautiful addition to the campus. It brings this new building to life and offers great appeal when you walk through the doors,鈥 she said.
The segment ran on WCSH/WLBZ-TV's 5:30 p.m. newscast and appeared on the NEWS CENTER Maine website.
