Christopher A. Cotterill is a native of Kentucky. He is an alum of the University of Kentucky where he obtained a B.S. in Chemistry (1999), Doctorate of Dental Medicine (2003), and completed the specialty residency program in pediatric dentistry (2005). Immediately after completing the specialty residency program, he opened a solo, private, pediatric dental practice in Georgetown, KY and taught part-time in the pediatric dental program at the University of Kentucky. He completed specialty board certification, thereby achieving Diplomate status with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2006. In 2009, after being offered a position with Saudi ARAMCO Medical Services Organization (SAMSO), Dr. Cotterill closed his private practice and moved to the Eastern Provence of Saudi Arabia, where he practiced as a pediatric dentist with the Dental Division of SAMSO. While in Saudi Arabia, he met and married Christine, an Irish citizen, who was also working for Saudi ARAMCO at the time. In 2012, he accepted a faculty position with the new School of Dental Medicine at East Carolina University where he helped design, start, and administer both the pediatric dental component of the undergraduate curriculum and the post-graduate specialty residency in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Cotterill left the School of Dental Medicine in January 2021 and returned to private practice as an associate pediatric dentist in both the Charlotte, NC area and Beaufort, SC until mid-November 2023. At that point, he, Christine, and their 11-year-old, red Labrador Retriever (named Bourbon), traveled to Maine where Chris joined the faculty at the 51品茶College of Dental Medicine.
