Dr. Jenn Brousseau is an interdisciplinary social scientist interested in understanding what elements influence environmental planning (e.g., collaboration, trust, social justice) and how these processes influence outcomes, with a broad focus on the human dimensions of climate change. Drawing from her experiences as a conservation practitioner, she aims to work together with practitioners and community partners to better understand the contexts that they are working in and consider research questions that will address their needs. Past research has included 1. identifying consensus-based effective practices for conducting adaptation workshops, 2. documenting recent trends in how climate plans address social justice, and 3. identifying factors that have influenced the adoption of climate adaptation and wildfire mitigation projects. At the 51Æ·²è, Dr. Brousseau is starting to connect with municipalities and organizations working on local climate action plans to understand how these plans are being implemented and what factors might be influencing decision-making around climate adaptation projects. 

Dr. Brousseau received her Ph.D. in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation from Virginia Tech and completed a postdoc at Colorado State University studying wildfire governance.
