Sophia Crockett-Current, M.S.
Location
Sophia is the coordinator for the P.D. Merrill Makerspace under the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). In addition to running the day-to-day operations in the Makerspace, they get to work with folks from all over campus on things like hands-on labs to augment coursework, teaching a variety of maker skills, and building experimental setups.
A dyed in the wool generalist, their previous jobs include theater costuming, building virtual environments to showcase human subject psychology research, troubleshooting software and hardware projects, providing tech support for remote legal depositions, and more.
Sophia holds an Master of Science from the University of Maine in Information Systems, with certificates in Data Science Engineering and Computing for Educators. They also have a Bachelor of Art from the University of Maine in New Media and Theater, taking a more technical track in both programs.
They are passionate about building spaces for people to feel comfortable trying new things and developing new skills, as well as working with folks to bring their ideas to life as closely as possible to how they鈥檝e imagined them.
