My favorite experience at 51Æ·²èwas the cross-cultural immersion trip, which took place in Ghana in Western Africa. While there I was able to familiarize myself and build a rapport through working interprofessionally with 51Æ·²èstudents and faculty as well as local Ghanaian health professionals. Treating patients in a foreign country where most of what’s said becomes lost in translation was possibly one of the best ways for me to learn as a physical therapy student. From my experience there I was able to satisfy my cultural curiosity while also leaving with the skillset of simplifying my technique and approach to rehabilitation so it’s easier to understand across various ethnicities, religions, and cultures.
